Description: Are you a motivated Five-College student interested in art, education, or museum studies looking for an exciting and rewarding job opportunity? Look no further than the Art Studio at The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. The Art Studio seeks part-time assistants in the Art Studio who will interact with families and professionals visiting The Museum, participate in Museum-wide events, expand their knowledge about museum and art education, assist with special projects for guests, and help document programs and workshops. Assistants will report to the Art Studio Educators. Daily duties include orienting the guests to the Art Studio space and materials; assisting in the preparation of art materials; and cleaning the space. The Art Studio at The Eric Carle Museum is open to guests of all ages during regular museum hours and supports the mission of the Museum through its Every Day Art and Guided Art Programs that encourage making, appreciating, and thinking about art. All of these activities support the National and Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Frameworks for art education K-12. The rate of pay for this position is $11.00 per hour.
Job Requirements: Five-College students who are artistically minded, outgoing, friendly, have experience working with the public and have Work Study hours as part of their financial aid package are encouraged to apply. Work hours are flexible to accommodate class schedules; however a regular weekly commitment of 8-10 hours per week for the entire academic year and one weekend shift per week is required. All applicants must consent to a criminal background check.
