Office/Marketing Assistant at Amherst Leisure Services

Seeking organized, responsible individual with federal work-study funding to support the Town of Amherst Leisure Services Youth and Adult Education Programs. The Office/Marketing Assistant will assist the Amherst Youth and Adult Education Coordinator in the various procedures that accompany the administration of numerous town wide youth and adult classes. Sophomore or Junior standing and summer availability highly desired.

Job description: A variety of office tasks including but not limited to mailings, filing, data entry, proofing and editing written materials, and making phone calls to instructors and participants. Facility supervision/ monitoring of programs may be added at times. The marketing emphasis may include social media and graphic design for flyers and ads.

Position also includes occasionally acting as a building monitor, to open facilities, help instructors and students find the room in which their class will be held, and make sure all goes smoothly in a satellite location.

Qualifications: Must be organized, responsible, detail-oriented, and possess good interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Student must have an interest and facility in marketing. Some office experience and written and verbal competence needed.
Must have strong computer skills and reliable transportation to the job. LSSE office is on an Amherst bus route.

Sophomore or junior standing and summer availability highly desired.

Job description: The photography position involves visiting and photographing classes and editing photographs. The marketing position includes social media and graphic design for flyers and ads. The assistant will also perform a variety of office tasks including but not limited mailings, filing, data entry, proofing and editing written materials, and making phone calls to instructors and participants. Facility supervision/ monitoring of programs may be added at times.

Events Assistant - Five Colleges's Academic Programs Office

Term/Start Date: February 2017

Job Description:

Five Colleges is looking for an energetic and engaged student to join the Academic Programs team assisting with the Five Colleges Events calendar and other clerical projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain the Five Colleges Events Calendar
  • Transfer event information posted to listservs to the Five Colleges Events Calendar
  • Assist with organizational projects related to Academic Programs
  • Occasionally support office operations with filing and other responsibilities

Approximate Number of Hours: 4

Requirements:

  • Have strong organizational skills
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Possess basic computer knowledge in operating Windows-based programs, such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel as well as have online literacy and curiosity
    •  Be mature, diligent, self-motivated, with a positive attitude

Time commitment:

Approximately four hours a week. Schedule is flexible, but work will be done at Five College offices in Amherst.

Hourly Wage: $11.00

Part-Time Childcare Worker at Center for New Americans in Amherst

Overview

Center for New Americans seeks a part-time childcare worker for its Amherst site.  The childcare worker will take care of children whose parents are attending Center for New Americans’ classes.  Parents will be on site. This position is on an as-needed basis. If there is advance notice that there will be no children, there will be no childcare.  If there is no advance notice but no children, the person will be asked to assist with other duties.

Schedule: January 4 through April 6 (spring session) and April 21 through July 14 (summer session): 8:15 – 10:45 A.M., Mon-Thurs  as needed (ideal candidates would work both sessions but it is possible to be hired for just one session. The program is closed when the public schools close for weather or holidays.

Location: Center for New Americans, Bangs Community Center, 2nd floor, 70 Boltwood Walk, Amherst.

Qualifications: Successful candidates should have some work experience with the following:

  • infants and toddlers;
  • caring for more than one young child in a work situation at the same time;
  • engaging with families from diverse backgrounds.

Ideally, candidates will be able to provide references for past childcare work

Candidates must also be willing to submit to a CORI check.
