Our Fall 2012 season came to a close with a loss to Bowdoin College. Including the Beantown Tournament, we ended with a record of 3-6. Two of those losses were by a mere point, and we have considerably improved upon our performances from last year. With a young squad, we are looking forward to coming years with much anticipation.
Congratulations to all of our wonderful ruggers who obtained recognition from the NESCRC for their dedication to rugby on and off the pitch. Claudia Wack '13 earned a spot on the All-NESCRC team at second row, and Jasmine Green '16 was the only freshman named to the All-NESCRC team, earning a spot at wing, and garnering honors as the 2012 NESCRC Rookie of the Year. Sophomore Julia Smith '15, earned a spot on the NESCRC All-Sportsmanship team for her display of hard work and integrity on the pitch. Nine players earned a place on the NESCRC Fall 2012 All-Academic Team: Bridget Bennett '14, Marlene Cedeno '13, Mia Certo '13, Rashaa Fletcher '15, Anya Goldberg '13, Cassandra Gross '14, Jessica Levine '13, Julia Smith '15 and Claudia Wack '13. We are extremely proud of our ruggers and excited to have more join the ranks each season!
The Amherst College Women's Rugby Football Club is a student-run club sport that competes in the New England Small College Rugby Conference (NESC Rugby), a Division II Women's Collegiate Conference. Everyone, regardless of skill level, is encouraged to come out to a practice or game and see what the sport is all about - no experience required! We practice three days a week and play games on Saturdays during both our fall and spring seasons.
