CATZ (Walsh/Open) No Class on February 23

CATZ stands for "competitive athlete training zone", and this class will be base on the principles of the CATZ model of fitness and training.

An introduction to golf. the basic swing.

Mat Pilates (Cowperthwait/Open)

Engage your mind to condition your body with core strength exercises, breath control and more. Mat Pilates class offers a blend of flexibility and strength work, with an emphasis on core muscles. Each class offers a series of challenging floor exercises that are adaptable to all fitness levels.

Mat Policy: For hygiene reasons, all participants must bring their own yoga mat to mat-based classes (yoga, pilates) If you do not have one, mats will be available for purchase ($15/mat) at Conway Classroom, and students may term-bill at the first class. Fitness walking is a low impact aerobic type activity designed to develop cardiovascular fitness. Come join us at lunch time to walk and breathe with others.

Yoga - Vinayasa Flow (Renzoni/Open)

In this energizing and challenging class we practice sun salutations, standing poses, backbends, twists, and forward bends, with emphasis on building stamina, alignment, poise, grace, breath awareness, and freedom. This class is designed to be like a reset button, creating confidence, clarity, focus, and a deeper sense of well-being.
Kendra's teaching is bright, joyous, disciplined, layered, and detailed. While her teaching is highly focused on alignment, she also weaves the philosophy of yoga into the postures to facilitate students into finding greater ease emotionally and physically in class and in their lives. She gives beautiful and detailed demonstrations of the poses, both demonstrating what to do and what not to do and through this tool students often have eye-opening experiences of great understanding. She has incredible clarity in her instructions, and repetitively weaves her instructions through class so students begin to find themselves building greater comprehension and expansive intelligence. Though the art of assisting with hands-on touch she guides students deeper into their full potential.

Mind-Body Techniques and Practices (Peck/Open)

Mind-Body Techniques and Practices: Qi Gong-- Chi based Disciplines- including Shaolin Kung Fu

Using Qi Gong, and other Chi based disciplines students and faculty will be engaged in the Art of Chinese body works and movement in order to enhance the circulatory system, increase balance, timing and flexibility. Students will learn some Shaolin Kung Fu movements and principles integrating Chinese philosophical ideas of intrinsic power -- and how to use that power to navigate the outside world as well as promote health and awareness in one's own life. This class will encompass movement techniques that will help to integrate fragmented parts of our mind and body in order to create greater ease and release tension in daily life. It is fun, engaging and powerful, and all levels are welcome.

Instructor,Linda Peck ,has been studying and teaching various Martial Arts for over 20 years, is a Ni-Dan or 2nd degree blackbelt a certified Tai Chi /Qi Gong Instructor, and teaches and presents at conferences throughout the the Northeast.

Yoga - Start Your Day the Right Way (Evans/Open)

Begin your day with breath and movement! This is an open level, accessible, and empowering yoga practice designed to cultivate skills for use throughout your day. Finding your ground and the support of the body, strategies for building and containing personal energy, finding a sense of integration and wholeness. A gentle warm up followed by Sun Salutations and invigorating flows will leave you feeling inspired, awake and ready to embrace the rest of your day. Bring water and a sweatshirt for final relaxation.

Learn to breathe and move with intention in this beginner's class. With supportive and detailed instruction, you will realign your body with your true wisdom through a variety of yoga poses. Modifications and props will be used to accommodate all shapes, sizes, flexibility ranges and fitness levels.

Aqua Fitness (Patricia Jay/Open)

This is a basic water aerobics class featuring cardio, resistance training, interval training, and stretching. Some of the benefits of aqua fitness include increased energy, improved focus, greater strength, endurance, and flexibility, a boast in metabolism, toning and weight loss, and skill development. Impact is low to medium and all levels of fitness are welcome! Participants describe their experience as feeling refreshed and rejuvenated!

Please bring a suit (compression or bike style shorts are acceptable), towel and water bottle.

Tai Chi and Quigong Meditation and Exercise (Mazor/Open)

Cadigan Center, Living Room

This class focuses on tai chi practice based on portions of the 37 posture Yang-style form, and also includes various Quigong exercises.
Both the form and exercises are helpful for stress relief, healthful exercise, and general well-being. No prior experience is necessary.

David Mazor teaches and studies Cheng Man-ch'ing style tai chi. His classes focus on Professor's 'simplified' 37 posture Yang-style form.

Zumba Fitness (Franks/Open)

Vinyasa" is defined as "flow," which refers to the connection of breath with movement. This class is a more vigorous flow with dynamic "grounding" movements that will help you experience your body and breath in relation to the earth. Find your wisdom and power through sun salutations, standing poses, twists, backbends and cooling forward bends. Practicing in a heated room (approximately 85 degrees) allows the muscles to warm quickly and helps prevent injury. It also produces a detoxifying sweat. An extra towel and a bottle of water are highly recommended. All levels of flexibility and experience welcome!

Come unwind from your day with a gentle to moderate flow class. This class will help you to calm the mind and re-integrate into the body through mindful movement. Sensory and breath awareness contribute to the shifting of the nervous system, creating a sense of ease and calm throughout your whole body. Developing a yoga practice is a safe way to explore your own internal and external landscapes, and proves to be helpful in all areas of life. All levels, including beginners are welcome.

Core, Strength & Stretch (Cynthia Pliakas/Open)

This class will explore various ways to engage the core. Moving through a sequence of postures utilizing the whole body. The class will consist of some isolated core work, strong posture work and deep stretching.

It is a mixed level class -- beginners are welcome for fundamental structure, continuing students will enjoy the refinement. The room will be moderately heated.

Cynthia has been teaching yoga for 10 years and has been a student for 20. She earned her RYT 200 hr from Patty Townsend.
