Your personal cell phone IPad, Notebook, or other hand-held communication device is the most effective way to reach you during an emergency, especially if you are moving about the campus or are enroute to or from the campus. The contact information that you submit will greatly improve our ability to communicate with you and keep you safe during an emergency.
Through the ACData system you will be asked for the most appropriate means of communicating with your during any emergency, regardless of whether you are on campus, or not. Emergency Mass/Alert Notifications will only be sent during an actual emergency, such as an active shooter, extreme weather emergencies (hurricanes and tornados), train derailments and other significant events of assault.
Amherst College now has a recipient app in place to ensure that non-College employees, students, and visitors receive emergency notifications when on campus. To download the app and receive Amherst College emergency notifications, users should:
- Go to your app store.
- Search for “Alertus”.
- Download the “Alertus” app. Do not download the “Alertus Activator” app.
- Allow the app to send you notifications.
- When prompted, enter the following organization code: Amherst
- That’s it. You will receive emergency notifications from Amherst College.
