Annual Fund Update - November 19, 2012
Greetings and thank you. We extend greetings and thanks to returning Class and Associate Agents for your renewed gifts of service to Amherst. Last year, as in every year, your conversations, emails, and letters to friends and classmates made huge contributions to the College's fundraising success. Thank you! We look forward to working with you this year.
Did you know? Your class liaisons stand always ready and eager to help you in performing your service, but you might be surprised at the quality of resources and information available at the Alumni Fund Tools page on the website. Among other things, you'll find an updated handbook, sample thank you and appeal language you can copy or use as a template, reports and statistics, and topical talking points. The Online Donor Report (ODR), our most important tool, is also located there, with new filtering options and a Yes/No field to indicate whether a classmate has made a non-Alumni Fund gift to the College.
Pratt Field complex to be transformed. A milestone was crossed last Saturday, when Amherst beat Williams by a score of 23-20 in the last game played on Pratt Field's natural turf. Next for the 121-year-old complex will be the installation of an artificial turf and a 15,000-square-foot field house to accommodate multiple teams across the seasons. The Neuhoff-Lumley Track renovation will be NCAA compliant, allowing us to, once again, host meets.
Sexual Respect and Misconduct Issues. Under President Martin's strong and open leadership, Amherst is confronting one of the most serious challenges facing colleges and universities today: sexual misconduct and assault. Please find links to the most up-to-date information in the Background Information and Talking Points, a taped webcast with President Martin, the Title IX and Sexual Respect website, and related articles from the media.
Timing and fall mailings. In late November/early December Biddy Martin will send a hard copy letter updating alumni on the College, which will include an appeal for the Alumni Fund. Earlier this fall, some classes' first hard copy class letters were held for roughly a week as numerous College communications took precedence. All of those letters have been mailed; our November email appeal was sent on time; and, to regain any lost ground this fall, two email appeals will be sent in December.
