Alumni Fund Volunteer Information
Each year approximately 1,300 alumni volunteer their time to support Amherst through the Alumni Fund. Close to 100 alumni serve as Class Agents, the lead fundraising liaisons between the College and the class; they work with a team of Associate Agents and 1821 Chairs, nearly 1,200 strong, to garner support for Amherst.
Personal contact from volunteers helps strengthen the bond alumni have with each other, the College, and the extended Amherst family. Such individualized, person-to-person connections are the foundation of our Alumni Fund. Volunteers serve as ambassadors for Amherst College. By engaging classmates in a conversation about the value and importance of Amherst, volunteers help obtain classmates’ support for the College and address their questions or concerns about the College today.
There are many ways to volunteer for the Alumni Fund. The Office of Development can provide you with all the tools and resources you will need in this important role.
Whether you’re a long-term volunteer or new to the team, please know we are grateful you have made Amherst a priority. Thank you for your dedication to—and for your own generous support of—Amherst.
