Some of our aspirations for Amherst’s third century depend on adjustments and expansions to our built environment. Giving opportunities include named spaces in the new Science Center, the Greenway and the Greenway Residence Halls as well as improvements to other residence halls, the construction of a new Student Center and new athletic spaces on campus, and a new home for the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Center for Writing and Public Speaking.
The new Science Center, which opened in the fall of 2018, enhances Amherst’s already outstanding programs in science and research by providing the best possible facilities and promoting strong interdisciplinary connections.
With their open, fluid design and intentional mix of living, learning and event space, the Greenway Residence Halls signal the College’s commitment to enhancing and enriching the residential experience for Amherst students.
The eastern campus greenway runs along the 12-acre natural corridor between the Beneski Earth Science Building in the north to the new Greenway Residences in the south and features a variety of outdoor spaces for socializing and reflection.
Amherst is committed to creating spaces on campus that promote and deepen community. Several renovation and construction projects, including a new Student Center, will support a full and balanced residential experience that acknowledges the importance of time outside the classroom as much as time within it.
