What Is Gift Planning?
Gift Planning is the application of sound personal, financial, and estate planning concepts to the individual donor's plans for lifetime and testamentary giving.
Planned Gifts to Amherst take many forms, but they all change lives. Some fund scholarships to help future students grow and thrive. Others allow the construction of new buildings, the enhancement of the College's art collection or the addition of original texts to the archives. Still others advance faculty research and scholarship, leading to increased knowledge and better teaching.
Through gift planning, alumni, parents and friends can support the College for generations. Planned gifts allow alumni and others to remember and to celebrate Amherst in a meaningful way that may not have been possible otherwise.
In return for a planned gift, donors and their families may receive important estate and income tax benefits, and, depending upon their gift, an attractive annual income stream for their life or the life of a secondary beneficiary.
There are many ways to craft a planned gift. Please browse this site for more information or contact a member of the Gift Planning Office. All inquiries are treated in confidence and do not obligate the caller in any way.
