Johnson Chapel Associates

Johnson Chapel Associates are alumni, parents, and friends who have demonstrated their commitment to Amherst’s future by including the College in their estate plans.

Amherst has chosen Johnson Chapel as the symbol to honor these individuals because it was Adam Johnson, a Pelham carpenter, who in 1823 bequeathed $4,000, or two-thirds of his lifetime savings to Amherst.  His gift provided for the building of a chapel at the new college upon the hill.

Johnson Chapel Associates  are alumni and friends who have included Amherst in their wills, named the College to receive proceeds from a life insurance policy or retirement plan (IRA, 403[b], 401[k], or established a charitable life income gift arrangement to benefit Amherst.  Amherst is grateful for this important kind of source.
