Sarah Ruhl, Robert Frost Fellow, Friends of the Library

November 10-15, 2008

As part of the Fellowship, playwright Sarah Ruhl will be in residence this week, meeting with classes and working on the last phases of the production of Eurydice, an enchanting reimagining of the classic myth of Orpheus, told from the heroine's perspective.

The production is directed by Shana Cooper, with a cast of Amherst students in all roles except Eurydice's father, played by Peter Lobdell '68, Senior Resident Artist in the Theater & Dance Department.  Costumes and set design are by Scott Dougan '04, now a graduate student at the Yale School of Drama, and lighting by Theater & Dance Department Lighting Designer Kathy Couch '95.

The production is funded by the Theater & Dance Department, the Office of the Dean of the Faculty, and the Library.  Performances are Nov. 13-15 at 8 p.m. in Holden Theater.  Tickets are free; reservations are recommended.  Call the Box Office at 413-542-2277.
