Oral history project

In 1994, the Friends of the Amherst College Library began a project to preserve and make available the oral histories of individuals who have been prominent in the history of Amherst College.  Copies of the interviews on DVD are in the open stack video collection of the Frost Library for borrowing, available for viewing in Archives and Special Collections or for purchase.  Please specify the interview you wish to purchase and send a check for $15 made out to the Amherst College Library to Archives & Special Collections, Amherst College Library, PO Box 5000, Amherst MA 01002-5000.  In addition, selected excerpts from most of the interviews are available on the web via the list of completed histories.

Online Viewing

Selected excerpts from the majority of the oral history interviews are freely available for online viewing. Selecting the name of the person interviewed will bring you to brief descriptions of that person and their interviewer, as well as several short video excerpts from their interview.
