Merrill Root (Class of 1917) “with constant affection,” Christmas 1941; in damaged dust jacket.  Gift of E. Merrill Root.
*Copy 6 has Frost’s signature in the middle of the inserted leaf, in an uncharacteristic black ink, with “Boston” written below it; from the library of Newton F. McKeon (Class of 1926), with his pencil note tipped in (apparently either in error or referring to a different copy, as it mentions the inscription being dated “1940”; perhaps taken from a bookseller’s description before he had seen the book); in dust jacket.  Gift of Mary Maury McKeon.
*Copy 7 has Frost’s signature in the middle of the inserted leaf, with “Boston | South Shaftsbury” written below it; in dust jacket; accompanied by two clippings of poems about Frost (“For Robert Frost” by Dorothy Bryne Dawson, with the ms.; “Reading by Robert Frost” by Marjorie Somers Scheurer, which have been removed and placed in file with call number: File RFA 39 1939a c.7 add).  Gift of Martha Overton Myers.
