Current Digital Projects
Digital Programs works collaboratively with Archives & Special Collections, Technical Services, Research & Instruction, Information Technology, and others to create, catalog, and provide infrastructure for digital collections and to partner with faculty on incorporating digital scholarship methodologies and projects into their teaching and research. Selected projects include:
- Amherst College Digital Collections
A collaboration with Information Technology to build a digital asset management system for Amherst College's growing digital collections. Currently contains digitized content from the Archives & Special Collections and images from the Art & Architecture Collection, but with continued development will also include data from the Beneski Museum of Natural History, and others from across the College.
- Hitchcock Papers Project
Digitization and description of the complete collection of Edward and Orra White Hitchcock papers, including correspondence, sermons, writings, and drawings.
- Open Access Project
Development of infrastructure to support the faculty's Open Access Resolution.
- Digital Humanities Projects
Digitization, text encoding, metadata, and project management support for projects that partner faculty, the Library, and Information Technology. Examples include the Loewenstein Papers touch screen exhibit and Five College Medieval Manuscripts project.
- Emily Dickinson Project
An effort to increase access to Emily Dickinson's poems, correspondence, and other materials by improving metadata for the digitized manuscripts and publishing them online with no access restrictions.
