Tips

1. Use Footnotes and bibliographies from course readings to find other resources.

2. Search for films and books in our collection and in the Five Colleges. Request books and DVDs from the other four colleges if needed, or take a field trip.

3. Search in WorldCat for books and DVDs held by other libraries (non-5C) and then request them through InterLibrary Loan.

4. You can narrow your search in the library catalog for books using a topic keyword plus these subject keywords and others:

  • Experimental films
  • Experimental documentary films
  • Motion pictures
  • Film criticism
  • Feminism and motion pictures
  • Motion pictures--Philosophy
  • Motion pictures--Political aspects
  • Motion pictures--Psychological aspects
  • Motion pictures--Reviews
  • Motion pictures--Semiotics
  • Motion pictures--Social aspects

5. An Advanced Search in the library catalog allows you to limit results to DVDs and films in the "format" drop-down field (see below).
