Overview

This guide should be used to find supportive sources for your social movements research paper. Included are links to different types of resources, including books, articles, data and statistics, and government documents.

    • Asian Barometer
      The Asian Barometer Survey (ABS) is an applied research program that aims to gauge public opinion on issues such as political values, democracy, and governance across Asia. Our regional survey network encompasses research teams from 13 East Asian states (Japan, Mongolia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia), and 5 South Asian countries (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal).

      An analytical database of worldwide economic indicators and forecasts, providing more than 300 series on 201 countries and 45 regional aggregates.

    • Open Government Data- India
      Open Government Data (OGD) Platform India - data.gov.in - is a platform for supporting Open Data initiative of Government of India. The portal is intended to be used by Government of India Ministries/ Departments their organizations to publish datasets, documents, services, tools and applications collected by them for public use. It intends to increase transparency in the functioning of Government and also open avenues for many more innovative uses of Government Data to give different perspective.
    • Statistical Yearbook India
      Annual report produced by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
    • World Bank- India
      A source for key development indicators, downloadable data, and country reports.
    • World Health Organization- India
      The GHO data repository is WHO's gateway to health-related statistics for its 194 Member States. It provides access to over 1000 indicators on priority health topics including mortality and burden of diseases, the Millennium Development Goals (child nutrition, child health, maternal and reproductive health, immunization, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, neglected diseases, water and sanitation), non communicable diseases and risk factors, epidemic-prone diseases, health systems, environmental health, violence and injuries, equity among others.
    • World Values Survey
      The WVS seeks to help scientists and policy makers understand changes in the beliefs, values and motivations of people throughout the world. Thousands of political scientists, sociologists, social psychologists, anthropologists and economists have used these data to analyze such topics as economic development, democratization, religion, gender equality, social capital, and subjective well-being.

    • Global Newsstream (ProQuest)
      Search the most recent global news, including major US dailies, with archives that stretch back into the 1980s from over 2,700 news sources that include newspapers, newswires, television and radio transcripts, blogs, and more in full-text format.
    • CrowdVoice
      CrowdVoice is an open-source service that allows people to curate content from across the web, creating a single place to go to for updates on breaking protest news. As a tool for democracy, CrowdVoice.org tracks the voices of protests by organising and contextualising valuable data, such as eyewitness videos, photos, and reports.

    • DevInfo India
      DevInfo India is an indicator based database system, developed by the Central Statistics Office, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, Government of India in collaboration with the UNICEF India. This database of official statistics, originating from various Government of India Ministries and Departments, will provide important insights into various socio-economic aspects of the development of the country and its human capital. Users can drill down through levels of disaggregation of data – National, State, Districts and Sub-districts – and extract information, and present the statistical measures of the indicators in the format of map, graph or table using the built-in wizards.
    • National Portal of India
      The Portal has been developed as a Mission Mode Project (MMP) under the National E-Governance Plan (NEGP) of the Government. The objective behind the Portal is to provide a single window access to the information and services being provided by the Indian Government for citizens and other stakeholders.
    • Parliament of India
      Links to the official sites of the President, Council of States, and the House of the People.
    • Legal Information Institute of India
      Free, independent and non-profit access to 154 databases of Indian law.
