    Review Journals

    The following journals publish review articles. Unlike primary research articles which describe original research, review articles describe the current state of a topic by reviewing existing published research. 

    • Annual Review of Sociology
      "The Annual Review of Sociology, in publication since 1975, covers the significant developments in the field of Sociology. Topics covered in the journal include major theoretical and methodological developments as well as current research in the major subfields. Review chapters typically cover social processes, institutions and culture, organizations, political and economic sociology, stratification, demography, urban sociology, social policy, historical sociology, and major developments in sociology in other regions of the world".- Annual Reviews
    • Contemporary Sociology
      "Contemporary Sociology: A Journal of Reviews (CS) publishes {book} reviews and critical discussions of recent works in sociology and related disciplines that merit the attention of sociologists.     • Sociology Compass

    • Academic Search Premier (date coverage varies)
      Full-text articles from over 3,600 journals in the social sciences, arts and humanities, and sciences.
    • ERIC (1966 to present)
      Covers research documents, journal articles, technical reports, program descriptions and evaluations, and curricular materials in the field of education.
    • JSTOR
      Full-text backfiles of over one thousand leading academic journals across the humanities, social sciences, and sciences.
    • PsycInfo (1887 to present)
      Covers the academic literature in psychology and related disciplines including psychiatry, sociology, education, and other areas.
    • Social Science Database (ProQuest)
      A search engine combining the content of the following three databases: Sociological Abstracts, Public Affairs Information Service, and the International Bibliography of the Social Sciences.
    • Sociological Abstracts (1952 to present)
      Covers the international literature in sociology and related disciplines.
    • Sociology Database (ProQuest) (1985 to present)
      Covers the international literature of sociology and social work, including culture and social structure, history and theory of sociology, social psychology, substance abuse and addiction and more.
