It is particularly useful for subjects related to Spain, such as history and Islamic studies, not well covered by other popular databases. English language search is available. Its detailed entries contain descriptions, assessments and comprehensive bibliographical details about individual works. E-book version

     The Cambridge History of Spanish Literature (AC Frost Stacks / PQ6033 .C36 2004): Essays cover the full range of Spanish poetry, prose, and theatre from the early Middle Ages to the present day. The classics of the canon of eleven centuries of Spanish literature are covered, from Berceo, Cervantes and Caldern to Garca Lorca and Martn Gaite, but attention is also paid to lesser known writers and works.  

    Cambridge Companion to Modern Spanish Culture: Substantial survey essays on literature, history, arts, media, and more.  Current through late 1990's.

    Encyclopedia of Contemporary Spanish Culture (Reference DP 233.5 E63 1999):

        Electronic editions of over 2,600 local, regional, and national U.S. newspapers as well as 1,500 international sources. Fully searchable and browsable by map

        Full text for over 1,300 local, regional and national newspapers, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, Hartford Courant, Los Angeles Times, and more.

      • Biblioteca Virtual de Prensa Historica (Virtual Library of Historical Press) 
        A digitized collection of almost 2000 historical newspapers developed by the Spanish Ministry of Culture. These periodicals date from 1777 through the 20th century.The search interface is available in English and several Spanish dialects.
