Available at Amherst?

Check Online

If you're looking for a specific article, search for the journal by title to check our online availability for the year you need.

Check for Print

If we only hold it in print, there should be a link to details about our print holdings. You can also search the Amherst catalog directly by journal title. Print periodicals can't be checked out by students, but you can photocopy or scan the article you need.

Request from the Depository

If the print volumes are located off-site, there will be a link on the catalog Call Numbers & Availability page to request an article from the Amherst Depository or the Five College Depository. The scanned article will generally be sent by email.

Or Make an ILL (InterLibrary Loan) Request

If a journal article or book chapter you need isn't available online or in print at Amherst, request a PDF of the article or chapter through Interlibrary Loan using the library's Request Service (even if it's available at one of the other Five Colleges online or in print).

Use the Check for Full Text button from results in article databases to check for our holdings. You'll see a link to request via Interlibrary Loan if not available online, and all the article information will then automatically populate in the request form when you log into the Request Service.

Allow 2-4 days for PDF requests. You'll get an email when it's available to download from your account.
