About 60 percent of all Amherst alumni report that they have earned a graduate or professional degree.

Among possible destinations for economics majors include Ph.D. Economics programs, MBA programs, Public Policy Schools, and Law Schools.

Students interested in pursuing graduate work in economics are strongly encouraged to take mathematics courses beyond Math 111 (Intro to Calculus) and to discuss course options with your advisor. Specifically, such students should plan on taking Math 121 (Intermediate Calculus) and Math 271 (Linear Algebra) or 272 (Linear Algebra with Applications) at a minimum, and ideally Math 211 (Multivariable Calculus) and 355 (Intro to Analysis) in addition.
