Why did you choose to come to Amherst?
Tom Zuckerman, a friend from myCalifornia hometown had just graduated, and raved about the place. I had never seen it before my first day of freshman year.

Freshman English.
Favorite (most memorable or most influential) professor
Haskell Coplin, the college psychologist, who sponsored my Independent Scholar project, and led me into clinical psychology for grad school.
Research Interests?
I harvest other people’s research – I’m a science journalist.

Serendipitous. I was a visiting lecturer at Harvard after having finished by Ph.D there, and my contract was up. T George Harris, then editor of Psychology Today, invited me to join the staff, and I thought I’d try journalism. Never looked back.
