Amherst College donated three acres of land to Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity for the constuction of four single-family homes. The homes, designed by Amherst-based Kuhn Riddle Architects, are visually striking and very energy efficient as well as simple in design. The simplicity of the design is especially important for Habitat, because of its reliance on volunteer builders. Three homes have been completed and occupied; the fourth is under construction.
