Reading to Learn Assigments

Submit all assignments in class on Mondays:

 Assignment (1) – explain what media you normally use to be informed about your own campus, your town (state), your country, and the world. Discuss pros and cons of each media and WHY – write one full page using 原稿用紙

Assignment (2) – write campus news – write one page using 原稿用紙

Assignment (3) – write what you know about the author and the novel – write one full page using 原稿用紙

Assignment (4) – introduce the characters who have appeared in the story so far, and write a summary of the story up to this point; write between 1 ½ and two pages using 原稿用紙

Assignment (5) – you will be analyzing the three main characters in the next three assignments – write about the main character, Mikage – write one full page using 原稿用紙

Assignment (6) – write about Yuichi – write one full page using 原稿用紙

Assignment (7) – write about Eriko-san – write one full page using 原稿用紙

Assignment (8) – (1) why do you think this novel has been so popular, not only in Japan but in other countries of the world as well; (2) write your thoughts on the title – why “kitchen”? What do you think it symbolizes or represents?

Assignment (9) – proposal of your project (a handout explaining the format will be given in class)

Assignment (10) – submit a mid-report of the project – send it via email (in a word file)
