“When You’re a Dog” is a children’s song by Andrew Barkan ’02 and Polly Hall ’04 (below). It won the 2012 Joe Raposo Children’s Music Award, given by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.

Invited to perform at the New York City awards ceremony, Barkan and Hall needed a backup “dog choir.”

They enlisted Alexis Weiss ’04 and Mara Levi ’99, once Bluestockings with Hall, and Pedro Soto ’99 and Chad Mills ’04, former Zumbyes with Barkan.

The six sang “When You’re a Dog” in the Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center on Dec. 12, 2012.
