Services WiFi

The IT department supplies WiFi network access in all campus buildings and in several outdoor areas such as the first-year quad and Pratt Field. 

We broadcast two SSIDs:

eduroam

Eduroam is the primary Wi-Fi network for Amherst College students, faculty, and staff, as well as visitors from institutions that support eduroam. When connecting, Amherst College community members should use their Amherst email address (username@amherst.edu) as their login username. Visitors from other eduroam-participating institutions should log in using their primary email address provided by their own institution.

AmherstGuest

As you'd expect, visitors to campus (except those from eduroam institutions) connect to AmherstGuest, where they can create an Amherst network login account. Less apparent but equally important, AmherstGuest is the network used by students, faculty, and staff to connect WiFi devices that can't connect to eduroam. Such devices must first be enrolled in Clearpass, a college system that acts as a gatekeeper for the network.
