The Five College Consortium (consisting of Amherst College, Hampshire College, Mt. Holyoke College, Smith College, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst) offers several certificates in ethnic studies. The Native American Indian Studies program allows students to pursue an academic track not specifically offered by Amherst College. Click here to learn more about the NAIS program.

The Five College Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies also includes courses relating to Indigenous peoples of Central and South America. Click here to learn more about the LACLS program.

Certificate programs, which are like enhanced minors, require no capstone project. They can encourage students to take courses away from their home campus and are highly recommended as a way to burst the "Amherst bubble."
