50th Reunion

Not much has changed since our 45th reunion letter. Eleanor and I still live in Richmond, Texas just to the west of Houston. We are both involved in running a horse boarding facility. Winmore farms. Inc. It keeps us very involved most every day. We are responsible for some 65 to 70 horses. The only bad news is that 12 of those horses belong to us. Why so many - well some are young horses, other are brood mares. Some we are grooming for our grandchildren. A number are lesson horses (we have four trainer that give lessons at our stables) and we have a driving horse. We look forward to every day, and we even frequently clean our fingernails and put on our duds and go out into polite society.

Eleanor is involved in driving a horse and carriage and we are both active in the Houston area carriage association. We have two competition vehicles and an antique carriage that we use on special occasions. Eleanor suffered a very serious accident in December 1993 when she was thrown from a carriage, but I am happy to report she has recovered completely. She actually participated in a competition the following April which delighted everyone.

We have three employees who have been with us the last 5 years 50 we are at the point where we can do some traveling. We have made several trips to England to see the royal Windsor horse show. When I last wrote our girls and their families were all here in Houston. Our youngest has been in Boston the last two years with her family (a girl and two boys) while her husband attended Harvard Business School. Fortunately upon graduation he accepted a position back here in Houston. Our eldest now lives in Panama City Beach, Florida so we have a nice vacation spot there. Our middle daughter and her family (one boy) live in Dallas so we also get to see them regularly.

I worked for shell oil for over 27 years and really enjoyed my work and look back on it with fond memories. However. I am glad I am doing what I am doing now. We think we have a great life here on our little ranch. It is really an active place and there is always something to do. Eleanor is the horse person and I am the maintenance person.

We are still active with our church - old south Anglican Church - which is adjacent to our property. I am still involved in volunteer work with the Houston executive service corps which provides consulting services for non-profit organizations in the Houston community. Each fall we attend the annual reunions of my old navy group - LCI Flotilla 24. The reunions are held at various locations around the United States.
