History of the Collection

In 1991, The Katia Anzi-Stoliarova Collection of the Russian Social-Democratic Party and the Central Union of the Jewish Workingmen in Lithuania, Poland and Russia (Bund) Records was donated to the Amherst Center for Russian Culture as a part of Thomas Whitney (AC'37) gift.

Mr. Whitney bought this collection in Geneva in 1973 from Katia Anzi-Stoliarova, the step-daughter of the well-known Russian emigre physicist and inventor, Konstantin Shilovsky. Katia Anzi-Stoliarova inherited this important collection from her step-father, who was in very close contact with many Russian political leaders and their friends in the beginning of the 20th century.
