In Memory

Bob Slote passed away on Dec. 1, 2015. He succumbed peacefully in his hometown, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

After Amherst, Bob served as a LTJG in the navy during the Korean Conflict. Subsequently he received an M.B.A. from New York University in 1961. Bob worked as a stockbroker for nearly 50 years, first in New York City, then in Stamford, Conn., and finally in Palm Beach, Fla., where he and his family moved in December 1981.

Bob is survived by June, his wife of 58 years, and their two children and seven grandchildren. A brother, Edward B. Slote ’44, predeceased Bob.

In our 35th Reunion publication, Bob entered the following thoughts: “Life is somewhat like a card game. The almighty deals you a hand of cards, which you must play with. Some are dealt better hands than others. Some play their cards badly. Some play exceptionally well. It’s not so much the cards in the hand that count. It’s how you play them.”

We extend our condolences to June and to all of Bob’s family.

Everett E. Clark ’51
