More and more, the world needs people who can analyze data or take quantitative concepts and apply them to answer important questions. We’re here to help you develop these skills regardless of your quantitative background.

Students have an opportunity during Interterm (every January) to meet with a Math Associate to prepare for spring-semester math courses or exams. For information, students should contact Timothy St. Onge at trstonge@amherst.edu.

Online Resources

The Q Center has put together materials that can be useful to you in your quantitative courses. We have also provided links to helpful online material. Learn more about online resources.

Statistical Consulting

The Mathematics and Statistics Department is pleased to announce that Professors Horton, Liao, and Wagaman and the Statistics Fellows are available for statistical consulting for students (especially thesis writers). Consulting can involve help in designing an experiment or study, analyzing or interpreting results, or help in understanding a statistical technique in a journal article, and much more.  Please contact them to set up an appointment.

Pre-Health Peer Mentoring

The Amherst College Pre-Health Peer Mentoring Program seeks to build a sense of community, and help younger pre-health students feel at home here. The program is intended to reach a specific group of pre-health students (low-income, first generation, and students of color) who are exploring their passion for health and a potential career in the health professions, and come from historically under-represented groups in the health professions.

Workshops and Events

There are a number of workshops at the college relevant for students in quantitative disciplines.
