50th Reunion

Has it been five years already? What do they say? "Time flies when you're etc Great. I'm one of those who fine retirement more fulfilling than working. Not as profitable perhaps, but I relish the freedom to read the L.A. Times for two hours before a 9-ish breakfast. Then schedule the rest of the day as I wish.

What does one do in retirement? Grow green beans, water roses, watch the stock ticker on CNBC, paint a roam, take a nap, go to the spa/gym, or take a brisk walk.

I also find myself donating the U.U. Service Committee as a West Coast Board member, remain active in the local U.U. Society and the camp/conference center near Big Bear...both roles directed toward fund raising and social action.

Gus Williams of our class and Dr. Bob Izant, '43, share with me the Class Agent duties for Western Reserve Academy's three classes, '39-'40-'41. Gus's banking and Amherst development experience make him a pace setter for the other class agents.
Three daughters, one in Seattle, one in San Diego, and one, partially disabled, brightening our life here in Orange. Two granddaughters in Seattle (one just graduating from WRA this spring), and a 9 year old grandson in San Diego.

Being a bit distant from the "fairest college" my Amherst activities are limited to a couple of Southern California Association events a year. This is where I find the younger alumni calling me "Sir" when they see the '45 on the nametag and all the grey hair and beard.
