50th Reunion

Like most of the class I left Amherst in the Spring of 1942. While waiting to be called for the enlisted reserve I enrolled at Northwestern University for the summer quarter but my induction was delayed until the Spring of 1943 by which time I had completed my junior year.

I served in the Army Air Corps as a flying weather observer in the Southwest Pacific. I was returned to the USA for rest leave in early Fall of 1945. The trip was of such duration that they signed the Peace Treaty on the Missouri the day I landed in San Francisco so I was rushed immediately to Fort Sheridan and discharged at once.

I reentered Northwestern completing my senior year in the Spring of 1946. I returned in the Fall for post graduate studies which 5 years later resulted in a CPA and LLB degree. During that period I married Doris Kiernan a fellow student at Northwestern. We have 5 children, 3 boys the eldest of which graduated from Amherst, and 2 girls.

My business career has involved operating small businesses. I own an exporting firm in Chicago to which I devote considerable time, a mail order firm in Hutchinson, Kansas and a 50% Interest in an aerosol firm In Janesville, Wisconsin.
We live in Winnetka, Illinois and have recently purchased a lot at the Loxahatchee Club in Jupiter, Florida where we are in the process of building a home.
