In Memory

Andrew Mark Danielson died at the age of 26 on Dec. 7, 2005 in Boston. He was born Sept. 10, 1979. Andrew died at Massachusetts General Hospital after suffering heart complications while working out at the gym. He was a beloved son and great friend who will be deeply missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him.

At Amherst Andrew was a three sport athlete playing football, baseball and later rugby. His love of athletics was so contagious that his teammates could not help but get excited to be on the field with him. Andrew’s courageous and adventurous spirit followed him off the field as well. During his time at Amherst, Andrew traveled extensively abroad taking a year off to work in England and enjoying a semester in Australia. Wherever he was, Andrew was quick to make friends; all who knew him will remember his easy smile and passion for life.

Andrew graduated from Amherst in 2003 with his Bachelor of Arts degree. He then moved to Boston where he was employed by the Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) as a senior branch office administrator. He was also studying for his broker’s license and considering business school. In Boston Andrew lived with four friends from Amherst who all will miss the many hours they spent together playing bocce, talking, laughing and singing karaoke. While Andrew was always up for a good time, his friends knew that if they needed someone to talk to or help them with a problem, Andrew would always be there with a friendly ear and an open heart.

Andrew’s friends and family will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his parents, Jan and Gerry Danielson, sisters Laura and Claire, grandparents Margaret and Ken Danielson and his many friends. While Andrew died young, he lived every one of his years on Earth to the fullest. Death may take away a life, but it can never end a friendship.
