Creating Accessible Documents and Instructional Materials Training Workshop
- Wednesday October 26, 2022 from 10-10:45 a.m.
A workshop for learning the basics of what makes email, slide shows, and documents accessible to someone who uses text-to-speech or other assistive technology. Practice time to create accessible emails and Word documents, as well as saving Word documents as PDFs and Google Docs with the accessibility content retained.

Creating Accessible and Searchable PDF Basics

- Wednesday November 16, 2022 from 10-10:45 a.m.
A workshop for learning the basics of what makes a PDF accessible to someone who uses text-to-speech or other assistive technology and how to fix inaccessible PDFs. Practice time to create an accessible and searchable PDF and fix an existing PDF.

Accessible Documents and Instructional Materials

With Shivaji Kumar, IT Accessibility Specialist, and Asha Kinney, Academic Technology Specialist
Explained the basics of what makes a document, reading, or email accessible to someone who uses text-to-speech or other assistive technology. Also provided practice creating accessible Word documents and PDF’s.
Accessible Web and Media
Friday, November 1st 10 - 11 a.m. -or- November 15th 10 - 11 a.m.
With Shivaji Kumar, IT Accessibility Specialist, and Asha Kinney, Academic Technology Specialist
Explained the basic elements of web accessibility and how users of assistive technology access the web. Showed some easy Drupal tips for creating more accessible pages on the Amherst website, and how to assess the accessibility of webpages or services. Attendees also learned about how to provide accessible video and audio content, as well as social media posts.
