New Science Center Wins Award

The American Institute of Architects’ Committee on the Environment named the Amherst Science Center one of the top 10 green buildings for 2019, noting that it offers “state-of-the-art facilities” while “reducing energy usage by 76% compared with a typical research building.”

Junior Named Goldwater Scholar

Ryan McMillan ’20 will use the funding to conduct research in a relatively young scientific area that “already shows promise” to improve drug delivery, electronics and more.


Jeff Sessions Speaks in Johnson Chapel

The former U.S. attorney general and senator discussed such topics as the Mueller Report and free speech. The event, which drew peaceful protests, was hosted by the Amherst College Republicans and supported by funding donated to the club by external sources and by Young America’s Foundation, which sponsored the talk.

’87 and ’07 Alumni to Speak in Boston on May 3

Two of the six speakers at TedxCambridge this coming Friday are Amherst alumni: Rafael Campo ’87, a critically acclaimed poet who teaches and practices medicine at Harvard, and Anthony Jack ’07, a junior fellow and assistant professor at Harvard.
