Mission

The Office of Inclusive Leadership leverages diverse talents, experiences and perspectives to competitively position Amherst College as an employer of choice and strengthen our positive impact on the communities we serve.

The Office of Inclusive Leadership leverages diverse talents, experiences and perspectives of Amherst’s staff to build an inclusive work culture. The office provides development opportunities for all staff members to grow in their understanding of identity and best practices for inclusion. Working to competitively position Amherst College to be able to attract and retain a uniquely qualified staff, the office works through campus partnerships to strengthen the work and efficacy of each division and positively impact communities within and beyond the college.

Our Work

Six Colleague Resource Groups, including identity- and interest-based groups for staff and faculty.

Support for each division of the College in developing and carrying out strategic priorities in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Over 850 staff participants in developmental workshops on identity, inclusion, inclusive hiring and transformative change.

Cross-campus partnerships in every division of the College to serve on task forces and search committees, run workshops and serve as thought partners.

Tracking of hiring processes for all exempt staff positions to impact racial, ethnic and gender diversity within candidate pools.

Serves as a resource for all staff on matters of diversity, equity and inclusion.
