Mission

The Resource Center Team creates opportunities to deepen the Amherst College community’s understanding of the multiplicity of social identities and their impact on people’s lived experience. We build networks of support for students, cultivate meaningful connections and forward institutional change.

A community in which all people thrive, and in particular, those who are historically and systemically marginalized.

Multicultural Resource Center, Women’s & Gender Center, Queer Resource Center, Center for Diversity & Student Leadership and, Center for International Student Engagement.

Collective Programming

Hill L. Waters Faculty Residency—In collaboration with scholars Durell M. Callier and Dominique C. Hill, Hill L. Waters (HLW) engenders healing through community accountability and artistic productions and dialogue.

Pies with Profs—An opportunity to meet faculty, connect and learn more about humanity in STEM outside the classroom.

Amherst Select Summer Intern Cohort Program (in collaboration with the Loeb Center for Career Exploration and Planning)—Five summer interns engage in a cohort model and participate in group activities, trainings and shared readings throughout the summer.

RCT Student Staff Training & Development—Brings together the student staff of all five centers to train and develop both personally and professionally.

Social Justice and Leadership LEAP Orientation Trip—A first-year orientation program that seeks to build community across difference and develop leaders equipped to create meaningful and lasting impacts on our campus.

OD&I’s First-Year Orientation Welcome Showcase—Brings together various student and campus organizations to welcome the first-year class to Amherst. An opportunity to learn more about the work of OD&I, student organizations, leadership roles, resources and support services through a showcase of performance and engagement.

#AmherstChatBack: Dialoguing Across Difference—A seven-week dialogue series inviting students to learn how to communicate and collaborate across social and cultural differences.

#AmherstChatBack: Students, Staff and Faculty Dialogue Luncheon Series—A five-week dialogue series to engage in critical conversations across difference, gain dialogue skills and learn from one another as we build community among students, staff and faculty.
