The mission of the Amherst Fund Committee is to serve, support, and advise Amherst Fund volunteers and staff in support of the College’s annual giving program. The Committee seeks to achieve this:

  • by functioning as the principal liaison between the College, volunteers, and alumni;
  • by promoting and facilitating the engagement and philanthropy of alumni and their meaningful participation in the life and future of the College through the Amherst Fund;
  • by inspiring and asking alumni to support the College through philanthropy; and
  • by supporting the College’s mission of advancing the liberal arts and teaching and advising undergraduates through support of Amherst’s operating budget.

The Amherst Fund Committee is composed of 13 alumni. Members serve as ambassadors for Amherst, supporting the mission of the College and the Amherst Fund. They offer guidance and expertise to Amherst Fund staff, generate ideas for improvements to existing programs and feedback for new strategic directions, communicate alumni opinions and interests to the College, and share the College’s priorities with alumni at leadership and volunteer events, including the Volunteer Summit.
