Since 1963, the European Studies program has fostered the independent and interdisciplinary study of European culture. Through integrated work in the humanities and social sciences, the major examines the meanings and histories of European experience and explores the dynamics that unite and divide European societies and cultures. Students take courses with affiliated faculty across the Amherst curriculum, study internationally, and, working closely with their European Studies advisor, complete a thesis or capstone project in their senior year.
