Kevin C. Karnes is a historical musicologist who studies sounding expressions of identity, difference, and belonging in eastern and central Europe from the nineteenth century to the present. His work explores archives and ethnomusicological fields, engaging projects in such domains as sound studies, art history, anthropology, philosophy, Jewish studies, and Baltic studies. He is the author of four books, Arvo Pärt’s Tabula Rasa (Oxford University Press, 2017), A Kingdom Not of This World: Wagner, the Arts, and Utopian Visions in Fin-de-Siècle Vienna (Oxford University Press, 2013), Music, Criticism, and the Challenge of History (Oxford University Press, 2008), and Sounds Beyond: Arvo Pärt and the 1970s Soviet Underground (University of Chicago Press, 2021).

Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre
Rūta Stanevičiūtė is a full professor at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Her current fields of interest are modernism and nationalism in twentieth- and twenty-first-century music, philosophical and cultural issues in the analysis of contemporary music, and studies of music reception. She is the author of a book on the ISCM and the spread of musical modernism in Lithuania (in Lithuanian, 2015). She has also edited and co-edited numerous collections of articles on twentieth- and twenty-first-century musical culture and the history of music reception.

Latvian Voices
A composer, arranger, professional singer, music teacher, conductor and artistic director of vocal group Latvian Voices, Laura Jēkabsone received her Bachelor’s in Music Education at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and gained experience internationally in many vocal workshops and composition competitions. Her music has been performed by the a cappella group Latvian Voices, the Latvian National Symphonic Orchestra, the State Choir “Latvija,” the Riga Cathedral Choir School girls’ choir “Tiara,” and the a cappella groups “The Real Group” (Sweden), “Sjaella,” “Amarcord” (Germany), “Magi Ensemble” (USA), “Cantabile Voices” (Taiwan), and “Incantare Coro Femenino” (Argentina), among others.
