In coordination with the Black Art Matters Festival, the Mead presents The Living Room. The exhibition is curated by DeLyna Hadgu, a senior and Advanced Student Museum Educator at Amherst College. "The exhibit focuses on how Black artists represent Black subjects,” according to Hagdu. The Living Room empowers Black people to claim space in the museum and take ownership of the Black image by prioritizing twelve Black artists from the Mead’s collection who highlight Black subjects.

Organized by DeLyna Hadgu ’21 in collaboration with Zoe Akoto ’21.
