Current and Pending Template

To create your Current and Pending for NSF, you must use SciENcv as of October 1, 2023.

  • SciENcv will produce NSF-compliant PDF versions of the current & pending support format. Proposers must save these documents and submit them as part of their proposals via Research.gov.

Additional Information

To calculate person months: take your 9 month salary, divide by 9, and then multiply by 1 (for one month), 0.5 for half a month, etc.  For federal grants do not include paid effort during the academic year in a proposal because it is assumed your Amherst salary compensates you for this time. You cannot list unpaid effort during the academic year because federal agencies will consider this voluntary cost sharing (not permitted). 

Do include:

  • time commited for the proposal you are preparing and any other pending proposals
  • time commited to other projects (outside of normal job responsibilities) whether on not you are paid
  • the current and future years for multi-year grants
  • competitive internal funding (e.g. FRAP awards)

Do not include:

  • start-up funding
