Basics of Retirement Planning

When it comes to retirement planning, many faculty and staff don’t know where to begin, so they don’t. This workshop will help attendees get started by helping them calculate how much they may need to afford to retire and develop a savings and investment plan to reach their objectives. We’ll review the importance of starting early and setting investment priorities. We will also explain some basic investment terms, tools, and the importance of using the tax deferred retirement plans offered by Amherst College. We’ll also explain, and consider the importance of asset allocation, the main driver of investment returns.
