Bailey Brown House
19 Hitchcock Rd
Amherst, MA 01002

Welcome to the Bailey Brown House,

We hope you enjoy your visit to Amherst College! Please keep in mind the following guidelines in order to keep our house running smoothly and ensure the best possible experience for all guests:

Accessibility: There is one step to enter the Bailey Brown House. Access to a bathroom with a shower is only available on the second floor, up a flight of stairs. The house is not fragrance-free. Should the house not be accessible to a guest based on these factors, funding can be made available for alternative housing.

Covid House Rules: In accordance with Amherst College policy, visitors to the Bailey Brown House are no longer required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test prior to entering the house. All guests should be prepared to use a shared bathroom, and to share space with up to three other guests. KN95 masks will be provided in the kitchen, but are not required to be worn inside. All visitors are encouraged to mask to their comfort level, and are expected to respect the comfort of other visitors in the house. Common areas will have air purification in place. Please visit the Amherst College COVID FAQ page for more information. Because Bailey Brown House is a shared housing accommodation, if guests are uncomfortable with these guidelines we ask faculty sponsors to find alternative accommodations. If any guests have questions or concerns during their visit, please email the arts coordinator at arts@amherst.edu.

Arrival/Departure: Guests may check in to their rooms after 4:00 PM on the arrival date and must vacate their rooms by 11:00 AM on the departure date. Please strip your bed at the end of your stay and leave the linens at the foot of your bed. Thank you!

Wifi: We offer free wifi throughout the house; the networks are BaileyBrown and BaileyBrown-5G and the password for both is artsatamherst.

Keys: When you depart, please leave your key in the lockbox by the side door. Passcode: 1821

Heating: Guests may find the house a bit chilly in the cooler months. There are working radiators in each room, with a shared thermostat located between The Phil and the kitchen. Feel free to adjust the temperature as needed.

Food/Tea: Guests are responsible for providing their own food. You are welcome to use the dishware and any of the pots and pans in the kitchen, as well as the disposable dishware and heat-proof cups made available. Please load any dishes you use into the dishwasher. Help yourself to tea or coffee located in the cabinet to the right of the stove, and water from the fridge. A list of local restaurants can be found at the Amherst Chamber of Commerce

Transportation: The PVTA (our local bus system) has stops in downtown Amherst and next to Converse Hall on the campus. Busses run to the other four colleges as well as a number of supermarkets in the area; visit the PVTA website for schedules. Lyft and Uber are also good options. Valley Transporter provides both shared and private rides to the Bradley and Logan airport, as well as NYC airports. Reservations should be made in advance with the Valley Transporter.

Parking: If you have a car, free parking is available along Hitchcock Road. If you are staying for an extended period of time, please contact Amherst College Campus Police about receiving a pass for on-campus parking.

Laundry: You are welcome to use the washing machine and dryer during your stay, as well as the provided detergent. They are located in the basement.

Trash: Please use the dark green trash bin and the paper and bottle recycling bins located outside by the driveway.

Smoking: Amherst College has a strict no-smoking policy on campus and in all campus buildings, including Bailey Brown House. This includes but is not limited to cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes, hookahs, cannabis, and pipes. Smoking shall be permitted outside of buildings, at a distance of not less than 25 feet.

We hope you have a wonderful stay! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to text Camuel Hart at (606) 776-4605.
