Our campus features six residential areas, from the First-Year Quad areas that surround our iconic main campus quadrangle to our most recent residence halls along the Greenway, a 12-acre natural corridor featuring footpaths through gardens, seating areas, and outdoor recreation and performance spaces.

Our Residence Halls

Amherst hosts 34 residence halls. Seven of these halls are dedicated to first-year students and are located along the First-Year Quadrangle. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors choose where they live, and housing for them is available in various configurations. In addition, some sophomores, juniors, and seniors choose to live in theme communities, which allow students who share an interest to be together on the same floor or residence hall.
