Gillan Chalono'23

Gillan Chalono is from Fort-de-France, Martinique and is a student at Amherst College majoring in Philosophy. Informed by his work as a political organizer, his philosophical interests lie in the social and ethical implications of distributive justice, gender, and race. He plans to synthesize these interests into an honors thesis that addresses the disjuncture between John Rawls' A Theory of Justice and contemporary feminist philosophy. This summer, he will be assisting with the legal representation of defendants charged with capital punishment as an intern at the Louisiana Capital Assistance Center. He hopes to pursue a Master's in Philosophy with long-term aspirations towards a legal career.
