Dr. Fred Blanton died suddenly on June 2, 2003, at this home in Deerfield Beach, Fla. Fred was an ophthalmologist who did important research in eye surgery and treatment of glaucoma. He ran in the Boston Marathon on 10 occasions. His other interests included spear fishing, flying own plane and relaxing with his family at their cottage on the Rhode Island shore. At Amherst, his was a member of Phi Delta Theta and, being an excellent student, he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. It is sad that we have lost this fine and gifted classmate.
