Chris Lehane ’90 was only seven years out of college when he became
press secretary to Vice President Al Gore. He worked for Gore from 1997
to 2000 at the White House and on the 2000 presidential campaign.
Since 2001, Lehane, partner and owner of the California-based company
Fabiani and Lehane, has advised corporate, entertainment, political and
professional-sports clients in finances, communications, government
affairs and the law. He has also worked on several political campaigns.
In May, the Amherst alumni body elected Lehane to a six-year term on the college’s Board of Trustees.
In 1992, Lehane worked on the presidential campaign of then-Governor
Bill Clinton. After graduating from Harvard Law in 1994, Lehane was
special assistant counsel to President Clinton from 1995 to 1997.
An active volunteer for Amherst, Lehane, who now lives in San Francisco
with his wife, Andrea, and children, Dominic and Quincy, has served on
the trustee-nominating committee and as a speaker at alumni and
Homecoming events. He has provided career advice to undergraduates and
participated in events for newly admitted students. He is also a member
of the college’s 1821 Society.
The Board of Trustees consists of 14 term trustees elected by the board
and six alumni trustees elected by the alumni, as well as the college’s
president, an ex officio member.
