Support for Research and Travel

The Schupf Fellows program provides opportunities to students who wish to engage in study or research with an Amherst College faculty mentor during the summer after the student's first year. Students selected for this program live on campus for eight weeks, participate in Schupf Fellows events each week, and present their research results to the campus during a poster session that is held in September. Fellows receive full housing and meals and a weekly stipend.

Schupf Scholars may avail themselves of these research opportunities throughout their years at Amherst, including summers, as long as they continue to achieve academic excellence. During the summers and in January, Schupf Scholars are eligible to receive funding to do research off-campus at laboratories, institutions of higher learning, libraries, and other learning environments in this country and abroad. Students can pursue work in the natural sciences and mathematics, the social sciences, the humanities, and the arts.
