Charles Jungenfeld Kraus died July 18, 1978, at the University of Missouri Medical Center at Columbia, MO, of burns suffered a month earlier in a tractor accident on his farm near Columbia. Charlie prepared for Amherst at the John Burroughs School in St. Louis and returned to St. Louis after Amherst to join Missouri Belting Co., his family’s firm, specializing in the sale of industrial rubber products. Charlie devoted much of his enormous energy to the firm, eventually purchasing a part ownership for himself and becoming its president. At his untimely death, Charlie had just opened a branch office in Kansas City and had ambitious plans for other offices.

Surviving are his wife Carol; two daughters by a previous marriage, Alexandra and Desiree; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kraus of St. Louis, and a sister, Mrs. A. W. Ferrin of Defiance, MO.

The Class of 1963 extends its sympathy to his family.
