Ralph Suechting of Fort Myers, Fla., died Oct. 31, 2008, at age 83. He was born in New York City on Feb. 5, 1925.
Ralph served in World War II in the 82nd Airborne Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was injured and received a Purple Heart. A Bronze Star was awarded to him for his service.
He attended Brooklyn College and graduated from Amherst where he was a member of Theta Delta Chi. Ralph received his medical degree from Columbia Univ. Medical School before completing his residency in neurosurgery from the Univ. of Minnesota Medical School. He began a neurosurgery practice in Neenah, Wis., and resided there for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Porter (Smith ’48); five children, Ralph, Steve, Holly, Dorrie and Martin ’79; and 12 grandchildren, including Maxwell ’11.
He will be missed.
